A U.S. District Court indicted 43-year-old Brian Loren Stowe of Waverly Aug. 11 on charges of manufacturing and dealing with counterfeit currency.

In two separate cases, six men have been arrested, charged and/or convicted of counterfeiting money. Each one is in the Duval County Jail, on a $1 million bond apiece.

After a one-month investigation, Abilene police have arrested 10 people in connection with a counterfeit money ring. Six of them have been charged with third-degree felony forgery.

Despite the sophisticated technology we have today to identify counterfeit money, there are those who still try to outsmart the government and general public with producing the fake bills. It is up to us, the citizens of the United States to help maintain the honesty of our currency by recognizing, reporting and stop the circulation of these counterfeit bills.
